CISE who we are & what we do

In 2019 Camphill initiatives for Social Ecology (CISE) was established in Kilkenny by the late Patrick Lydon (1955-2022). As we developed, we utilised a range of initiatives to promote Socially Valued Roles (SVR) or employment initiatives within our local communities. Our vision was inspired by the need to facilitate places for inclusion where diversity can be seen as an asset and strength.

Community Initiatives for Social Ecology [CISE] is now co-developing a multitude of new ideas which brings people and ideas together to promote community inclusion. The Social ecological model views relationship, connectivity, and purpose as essentials when co-designing a person’s “pathway”. We do not have all the answers and encourage partnerships.

Our Values & Vision

CISE’s primary objective is to promote inclusion through working with innovative social models for empowering people who require support to self-determine as active citizens. CISE’s Community Engagement Programmes (CEP) facilitates partnerships within local communities. These programmes support employment opportunities and socially valued roles. Through participation in your local community, you become an active citizen and “make your mark” through your unique contribution. We all have a role to play, we co-design our models based on an in-depth discovery process with all participants. We encourage those engaged with employment pathways or other socially valued roles to become self-advocates and share their stories with others who wish to begin their own individual journey.

We recognise that each person can make a positive difference within their respective communities when local communities offer Innovative opportunities which help to remove the obstacles that people with disabilities face when attempting to connect.

CISE is inspired by the work and vision of Dr Karl König (1902-1966) founder of the international Camphill organisation promoting every person’s meaningful role within their communities.

What we do

Pathways

When a Jobseeker engages with an employment opportunity, they may be job able but not job ready. An important, first step on the “Employment Pathways” programme is workplace readiness, CISE tailors its training approaches through work integrated learning opportunities and structured mentor support.
